Electronics

One of my hobbies is electronics, especially audio related.
I am currently working on this project:

amp-01.png

Wanna build 2 channels. Already built one (and it works), but messed up with some things, so I want to reconstruct it again.
I will use A42 or 2N5551 instead of russian transistors КТ315. I tried S9014, but forgot that their collector-emitter max voltage is 45 volts, which may be exceeded here, so this may be considered as a mistake. КТ203А will be replaced with 2N5401 or A92.

Re: Electronics

Successfully done with this project. Built 2 channels. Used A42 (MPSA42) and A92 low-power transistors and КТ815+КТ819 mid+high power ones.
One of the channels under testing:

The heatsinks are quite small, but I hope that will be enough, since I am going to use the amplifier in pure B mode, and not very high output power. Anyway, I think I have an ability to replace the heatsinks. Some weeks later maybe I will build one more channel, with low-pass filter, to connect a subwoofer.

If someone needs the PCB layout, let me know, I will share it wink

Re: Electronics

Build a Raspberry Pi? You want to say that you made it from scratch from SMD details? Or simply connected cables and used?

Re: Electronics

As for myself, I’m trying to use my Raspberry Pi as a caching proxy server. I installed Arch Linux onto a 32G SD card to get more available space, and also added a 8G USB flash card. I’m also going to install a local DNS server (bind9) onto it. My hope is that such a system will make my slow 3G internet connection a bit faster.
3G was introduced to become a lot faster replacement for outdated GPRS/EDGE technology, but it does not actually feel a lot faster. The speed is much better, yes, but the ping delay is still very uncomfortable. I wonder what will be when 4G/LTE comes to my place, will it actually be as good in terms of speed as my ADSL was.

What do you mean? I do not really understand, sorry.
If that’s related to Raspberry Pi, maybe I can help you? wink

Re: Electronics

I’m building the 4th instance of the transistor amplifier right at the moment. I think it’s going to be the last one. The reason why I made 2 more instances is that I wanted to play with different types of electronic components. The first two instances were built mostly from foreign branded details, while the third one I made mostly from Russian components. It’s worth to mention that I didn’t hear any difference in how they all sound, and it’s normal (it’s not normal when an amplifier brings it’s own specific «color» into the music, like it often happens with ICs like TDA2003 or TDA2005). I hope very soon I will make some high quality photos of one of the built instances. Just for the case you want to see it wink
